SmooveJonra Chris Lea aka“Sho Smoove”, one half of the rap duo “SmooveJonra” was born and raised in the Greensboro/High Point, NC area. Staying locally, he attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he developed the love of music and entertainment as a whole. Majoring in communication studies and eventually hosting a radio show on the schools radio station was his start into the music industry. His local radio show landed him an internship at the radio station 102 JAMZ where he was hired a year later. It wasn’t until 2008 that Sho decided he wanted to create music. In 2009 his hobby turned into something a lot more serious when he sparked up a friendship with “Jonra,” the second half of “SmooveJonra”. At that point, they both decided that creating music together was more beneficial than doing it solo. Jon Southall, aka “Jonra” is a DC native who comes from a rich musical background. His talent runs all thru his blood with his father being a musician, his mother and sister being singers as well as his grandmother who was signed to Mercury Records in the 60s. Jonra found his way to Greensboro, NC by way of a basketball scholarship to Greensboro College where he developed a desire to begin producing music. . He initially started producing beats for his sister so that she could start up her music career and during this process he realized he wanted to embark on the same path. Once “SmooveJonra” was formed the guys jumped right into action working on their first project “Shocker” which released July 11, 2011. Sho and Jonra chose the name “Shocker” because they wanted people to be shocked by their music and musical abilities. “SmooveJonra” isn’t just the name of a group, it’s a brand. The guys also have other projects going on like club promotion, a team of models, and a clothing line called Mocha Soul. The talents of Sho and Jonra don’t stop there either; the entire “Shocker” mixtape was self-written and produced by Jonra and Magnedo7, a writer and producer out of Winston Salem, NC who has worked with artists such as Eminem, Jim Jones, Curren$y and Ludacris. SmooveJonra is just getting their feet wet in the music business, but are willing to work hard and have a strong desire to climb to the top!
