Delivering life's most important messages with music, humor and heart is what gets me out of bed each day, (and sometimes in the middle of the night). Writing ConnectionSongs , Performing my own material and some really fun and heartfelt covers is where I use most of my musical energy.
Who do I sound like? People say I remind them of a mix of John Denver and James Taylor, (both are on my top 20 favorites list.)
Other musical hero's? Shawn Colvin, the Beatles, Kenny Rankin, Carol King, Bare Naked Ladies, Willy Porter to name just a few.
Proud Music Moments? Involvement with the Make-a-Wish Foundation through playing a number of their events; writing the theme song for the Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation; writing a number of ConnectionSongs for people that seem to have touched their lives, e.g. Babe and Angel, Wash Over You, The Smile in You and many more.
My History? I was raised all over; California, Connecticutt, Kentucky and Washington state. First guitar at age of eight, (I thought I'd won the eight year old's lottery!) First song was Steve's Tune - on the violin - and 200 of us played it at an assembly when I was about 10, (I was addicted thereafter). Mr. Hurlbert was the teacher in Middle School who really showed me how accessible and fun playing music was. College: I co-founded the Seattle band "The Hooters" and we played for nearly 20 years with the same 5 guys and the occasional horn players who made us actually sound good!
Albums? "Little Things" in 1990; "Play" in 2005, and "Open for the Holidays" was just released last fall, ('Open' and 'Play' are available at cdBaby.com and also on iTunes.).
